Owners and contractor booked for negligence after building gives way in the city's Kahna area; several more reported injured

At least fourteen children were killed and several others injured when the roof of a private tuition centre caved in in the Kahna area of Lahore. Rescue teams worked through the debris to free students trapped inside as anxious families gathered at the site.

Police have registered a case against the centre's owners and the building's contractor on charges of negligence, and a First Information Report has been filed. Investigators are examining whether the structure met basic safety standards for the number of students it held.
